Durham Farmers’ Market Virtual Walkthrough

Durham Farmers' Market

Methods

  • Augmented Reality
  • Website

This website-based project allows users to virtually walk through the Durham Farmers’ Market and learn about issues relating to agricultural sustainability, animal welfare, and the economic status of farmers. The use of the open-source JavaScript framework Scroll2Play leverages natural scrolling motions to emulate the feeling of walking for website users. Users can “stop” along their virtual journey to watch informational video interviews with various local vendors and farmers, thus imbuing the virtual experience with the interactive atmosphere characteristic of an in-person farmers’ market visit.
